51 persons killed as Boko Haram Attacks Nigerian Refugees.

Boko Haram on Sunday attacked Tumur Town, a community in the Niger Republic, which houses over 40,000 refugees from Nigeria.

According to newsmen, some refugees who reached out to their relatives in Maiduguri disclosed that the incident led to the death of over 51 people, while many properties were damaged and animals killed.
A further report revealed that most residents of Tumur are people from Abadam Local Government Area of Borno state in Nigeria. Recall that a similar incident occurred early this year prompting more than 2000 people to relocate to Damasak in search of safety and protection.
Government officials and international organisations in Damasak told newsmen that the town of Damasak may experience a continuation of the movement of people from Niger (mass influx) in the coming days.
The officials called on the government and partners to begin to make preparation for essential items including food to respond to the immediate needs of the new arrivals. In a related development, Kastina State Governor, Aminu Masari, disclosed that the state Government has commenced negotiation with the abductors of students in Government Science Secondary School in Kankara area of the state.
