Ebonyi state governor, Dave Umahi has urged Ebonyians to desist from abusing one another.

He said quarreling would not take the state to its desired height.
Umahi caused ripples in the state when he defected to APC without consulting party stakeholders.

    The consequences of the defection of Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi continuos to linger in the state. As a result of this, the governor has appealed to the people of the state to stop insulting one another.
    According to the governor, acrimony will not enhance the state’s progress. The governor disclosed this in Ohaozara local government area of the state.
    Following the governor from the Peoples Democratic Party to the ruling All Progressives Congress, last month, there have been accusations and counter-accusations in the state. Umahi while speaking on the acrimony in the state over his defection ordered his supporters to desist from dirty politics. He equally urged his political friends from the other side of the divide to embrace peace.

He said:
“I have directed that nobody should abuse anybody again. We should stop it. Even if I am abused, it goes with the job.
“Do not abuse anybody; but you can always put any distorted information straight. I am the father of the state and should not allow the state to go into bitterness and disunity. So, I have decided to move forward and I have decided to forgive all and all those who may have been hurt. “This is because I take responsibility for all the actions of my government officials and other supporters, my apologies. I am not going to sit on judgment with anybody; these apologies and forgiveness should be enough to settle all bad blood.”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Dino Melaye, a former senator who represented Kogi West in the Red Chamber, has offered a piece of advice to members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) planning to dump the party for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Melaye’s advice is contained in a tweet sighted by Legit.ng which he posted on Wednesday, December 2.
The PDP chieftain who himself returned to the opposition party from the APC in 2018 warned his colleagues against the alleged planned defection.
Mlaye’s statement follows the recent defection of Umahi from the PDP to the APC.
Following the outcries that trailed his defection, Governor Umahi had said he moved to the APC because of an alleged injustice the southeast region has suffered in the hands of the PDP.
According to the governor, he has no regrets about moving to the APC.
