Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted two housewives, simply identified as Sadiya and Wando, while one other identified as Washuma drowned inside a river in Golo community in Gwagwalada Area council, Abuja.
Newsmen learnt that Golo community shares boundary with neigboring Chakumi village in Abaji Area council, through the river Gurara.
Reporters gathered that a middle aged man, identified as Dauda, sustained bullets wounds, when the gunmen invaded the community around 4: am on Tuesday, as a result of the sporadic gunshot.
A resident, who preferred anonymity, said the gunmen, who were armed to teeth, came through river Gurara, opened fire into different directions and whisked away two women.
He said one of the women, who tried to escaped from the kidnappers, fell into the river and got drowned, saying the corpse is yet to be recovered.
According to him, the families of the kidnapped victims were yet to establish contact with the kidnappers, even as he said the injured victim has been taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment in Gwagwalada.
When contacted, the spokesperson of the FCT police command, ASP Maryam Yusuf, confirmed the incident, saying the command has deployed its men into the forest to ensure the victims are rescued unhurt.
