The Federal Government of Nigeria has appealed to the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to put off their 2-day nationwide warning strike due to economic hardship. Such action was requested by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Mr Simon Lalong, in a news conference on Monday in Abuja. The strike would occur from Sept. 5-6 and may be extended to an indefinite period unless the FG addresses the suffering of Nigerians. Lalong warned that such action would erase the gains made by the administration, and requested them to give this government time to settle the issues. It should also be noted that the Cabinet has just been sworn in with all members receiving a briefing from their MDAs.
