Fed Govt plans to replace BVN with NIN
The Federal Government on Monday said arrangements were on-going to replace the Bank Verification Numbers (BVN) with the National Identity Numbers (NIN). The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami, who made this known to reporters shortly after a tour of telecoms operators and NIN licensees in Abuja, said President Muhammadu Buhari has been briefed on the on-going NIN registrations across the country.
Banning of sim cards sale, registration unreasonable, cruel – Dele Momodu
Veteran journalist and former presidential candidate, Dele Momodu, has lambasted the Nigerian Government for banning the sale of new sim cards. The Federal Government through the ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, had recently suspended the sale, registration and activation of SIM cards following the ongoing NIN-SIM linkage.
EFCC Warns Nigerians Against Sale of NIN
As Nigerians struggle to acquire the National Identity Number, NIN, from offices of the National Identity Management Commission, NIMC, across the country it has come to the knowledge of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC that some unscrupulous persons are cashing in on the exercise to induce enrollees to sell their NIN for a fee.
