NASU, SSANU Give Reasons Strike Has Not Been Called Off

Contrary to statement credited to the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige that the striking non teaching staff in the universities were given timeline of Monday February 15, 2021, to call off the ongoing strike following the Memorandum of Understanding, MoU reached with the government, the workers have said that suspension of the strike on Monday would not be possible.

The minister, however, asked NASU and SSANU to give the government three months so that it will forward a supplementary budget. The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, has said any move by the unions in the University to go ahead with the planned strike will contravene ILO Statute on Social Dialogue and Principles at work.
